The Basics: Delicious: Emily's Message in a Bottle is a time management game in which you prepare food and serve it to customers. This game contains an excellent tutorial at the beginning of the first level. If you are an experienced player of the Delicious games, you can skip it, but I advise players less familiar with the Delicious games to play it through. Game hints are also provided, to explain new features. These hints can be turned off in the settings menu.
Customers order food and pay for it. Click on the product requested, then click on the customer to serve it. Some items require multiple actions. Counter customers will immediately check out, while table customers take time to eat.
Tip: If you make a mistake and put something on your tray that you don't need, click on it and it will be removed from the tray.
When a customer is waiting to pay you will see an image of bills and coins; the coins represent the tip. The higher the customer happiness--the more hearts a customer has--the greater the tip. Unfortunately, the customers don't have happiness levels shown by a number of hearts next to them as many other games do, so you have to pay attention to customer facial expressions to know how they are feeling. You will know if a customer has maximum happiness (is ecstatic) because there will be a pulsing heart next to his head. If a customer is angry, his face becomes red. If he becomes furious it is shown by a storm cloud; a furious customer needs to be served immediately or he will leave and you will be penalized -50. Customers will become impatient and pay lower tips if they have to wait in line behind other customers for too long.
When a customer arrives at the counter to pay, a thought bubble will show a stack of money and a stack of coins. The coins are the tip amount; as a customer decreases in happiness the tip amount will decrease as well.
You can click on the pause button during a level and access the "customers" tab, which will tell about each customer type for that location, and how patient they are. It is valuable to know which customers you can make wait while you plan a chain.

Doing the same action twice or three times in a row (chains) will help you achieve higher scores by giving you combo bonuses. Combos can be earned by having two or three complete orders prepared on your tray, and serving them to the customers without an interruption* to do another task. Serving two customers gets you the a combo bonus of +11; three customers gives +16; four in a row earns +21.
*Serving customer orders can be interrupted by using the cash register, and the chain will not be broken.
Combos can also occur when using the cash register. When you check out two customers at the same time, you getDe a combo bonus for +11, three customers together give a bonus of +20. Note that this is not two customers in a row, but rather at the same time. When customers are ready to pay, they will stand at the counter; wait until you have two or three waiting to pay and one click of the cash register will take care of them all at once.

The score for the story levels is measured in one, two, or three stars, depending on the amount of points you earn. You will win the level as long as you earn one star. The challenge levels have a set amount that must be met, without the option of earning more than one star.
Tip: If you can't reach three stars on a level, you can change the difficulty to a lower setting under the main menu and retry the level.
Entertainers become available in each location. To use an entertainer, click first on the entertainer and then on the table you want him/her to entertain. After the entertainer finishes, that table will gain one heart.
Challenges and Challenge Levels:
Most levels have a challenge to be completed, and, beginning with the third restaurant, there are challenge levels to complete. Challenges don't have to be completed in the regular story levels, but add points if you do complete it. Each challenge completed, whether in a challenge level or story level, earns a diamond.
Tip: Sometimes you can't both complete a challenge and get three stars in a story level. If this happens, you can play the level twice: once to complete the challenge and once to reach three stars.
Menu/Unlocking Food:
Beginning with level 6, each product has several varieties that you can unlock. Clicking on the item on the menu tab will tell you how many need to be sold to unlock the next variety. Once unlocked, you can choose to use the new product. Each product offers different bonuses, which you can read about on the product's page. To see the item options, click on "menu" at the beginning of the level.
Carl will appear in every story level. He will make a squeaky sound, and will appear for a few seconds. Clicking on him will give you a bonus 100 points. I have included a screen shot of his location for every level. You can earn a trophy for finding him in all 60 of the story levels. You will earn the award "Mice Catcher Potion" for catching the mice in all 60 levels.
Memorable Moments
In some of the story scenes, before or after the game level, a camera will appear. Click on it and it will take a photo of a Memorable Moment. There are a total of 14 Memorable Moments.
Memorable Moments are on levels 7, 9, 11, 13, 17, 21, 27, 31, 40, 46, 49, 53, 56, and 60.
Store:
To access the store, click on "store" at the beginning of the level. Clicking on a decoration will tell you what bonus it gives. Decoration money is earned by earning stars on the story levels. You earn 100 for each star. You will need to earn three stars on at least some of the levels to have enough to buy all the decorations
Tip: You can easily get through Emilia's Restaurant and Emily's Garden without the bonuses from the decorations. Save your decoration money and you will be able to buy all the decorations for the Old Family Restaurant right at the beginning.
Tip: I had to play several levels over to earn the money needed.
Diamonds
Trophies
Trophies are earned in the form of messages in bottles and can be viewed by clicking the trophy icon at the top of the map screen. Click on the bottle's outline to see the name of the trophy and what needs to be done to earn it. Most will be earned simply by playing through the game, and they are all self-explanatory.
Tip: The Chooser's Champagne, earned for unlocking all the menu upgrades in the all the restaurants, is a tough one to earn. You will have to play through most of the restaurants a second time to unlock everything.
Tip: Several people have had trouble with the Shopper Shot. Here are screenshots of all the shops, with all 70 of the items that need to be purchased numbered to make them easier to find.

Level 1
Edward will have to clean tables in the early levels. To do this, click on the dirty table and he will clean it. Customers will not sit down at a dirty table.
To make the pizza, first click on the crust, then on the cheese, and then on the requested topping. It will then go into the oven. It will make a sizzling sound when it is done. Don't wait too long to pick it up, or it will burn.

Vinicio will now clean the tables.
To make the spaghetti, first click the pasta and then the sauce. The sauce will have to be restocked. To do this, click on the tomatoes. The tomatoes will slowly regrow. You can have a maximum of six servings of sauce at a time.
Customers will now request a coin to throw. When they go to throw it, you will see a bar. Click on the bar when the line is in the green.
The challenge for this level is to find the seven items hidden in the scene. Locations are marked below.

Gelato is now available. To serve it, click three times on the flavor requested.

The challenge for this level is to find Emily; she will pop up in various locations. She will laugh each time she appears.
Tip: Don't worry if you don't click in time once or twice, as she'll continue to appear until the end of the level or until she has been found five times.
Three flavors of gelato are now available, and a customer can request a cone of all three. To serve this, click on each flavor from left to right.

The challenge for this level is to receive the packages from Chuck, the delivery man. When he arrives, a door bell sound will be heard. Click on him and Emily will accept the package. Wait too long, and he will leave.
To restock the cake slices, click on the cake.
To make the sandwich, click on the ingredients from left to right; more ingredients will be added in further levels.
Customer's will sit down at Paige's station to be painted. Paige will request paint. Click on the color she requests to put it on your tray, then click on her to deliver it.
To make the cupcake, click on it and it will go into the oven. The oven will ding when the cupcake is baked. Don't wait too long to pick it up or it will burn.

The challenge for this level is to feed the party.
Note: Including their orders in a chain will not give a chain bonus.

Pinatas are now available. After you give the pinata to the customer, you will need to click it multiple times to bust it. The bar meter will show how your progress.

Flowers can now be requested. Click on the flower three times to make a bouquet.
To make frozen yogurt, click on the machine. When the needle is in the green part of the meter, click again. If you wait too late, it will spill and you'll have to do it again. Emily can walk away from the yogurt machine to do another task, as long as you click on the machine at the right time.

The challenge for this level is to clean up Edward's three messes. Each has an exclamation point over it. Click on one for Emily to begin to clean. Clicking on any item or the register will interrupt her. Keep sending her back between customers until each mess is cleaned up.

Customers can now request a bouquet with all three flower types. To prepare, click on each one from left to right.

Challenge: Mice Invasion-Part I
The challenge for this level is to catch 25 mice. Don't panic if you don't click one in time. They will continue to pop up until you catch 25.
Level 10
The challenge for this level is to pack the suitcase. Click on it for Emily to begin to pack. Clicking on any item or the register will interrupt her. Keep sending her back between customers it's finished.

The challenge for this level is to fix all the broken parts. It will take some time, so be sure to keep sending Emily back to fix it between customers.
Antonio will clean tables if you purchase him in the store.
Customers will order one, two, or three pieces of lasagna. Pay close attention to the order. To serve one piece, click on the piece on the left. To serve two pieces, click on the piece in the middle. To serve three pieces, click on the piece on the right.

Edward is available to entertain tables. Click on him, then on the table you wish to entertain. After he is done, the table will gain one heart.
To make a pizza, first click on the crust, then the sauce, then the cheese, then the requested ingredient. The oven will make a sizzling sound while the pizza is cooking; when it is done the sizzle will stop. Remember: don't wait to long to pick it up or it will burn.
The sauce will have to be restocked. Click on the tomatoes to restock the sauce; you can have a maximum of six servings at one time.
Pizza's must be picked up by using the pizza board, or Emily will burn her hands and have to wait a few seconds before she can do anything else. Click on the board, then on the pizza.

The challenge for this level is to remember to use the pizza board every time, so that Emily won't burn her hands.
Level 13
The challenge for this level is to make the lunch. Click on the table for Emily to work on it. Clicking on any item or the register will interrupt her. Keep sending her back in between customers.
To make the risotto, first click on the bowl, then the topping.

Beginning with this level, you have to feed the fish. It will come to the top of the fountain and make a splashing sound; it has low patience. You will gain +40 for feeding it, if it is at 4 hearts, and +20 for less hearts.

Level 15
The challenge for this level is to accept the packages. Don't wait to long, or he'll leave.
Make the coffee by clicking on the pot and waiting until the arrow is in the green of the meter.

Tip: This can be sort of tough, as you get no warning for when he is going to walk off, and once he does, you loose the challenge. I found that clicking on him quite often worked.

Tip: Don't wait to make serving chains.
Tip: A quick bonus will only be given if the order is complete.
Level 23
Beginning with this level, Emily will have to catch fish to restock the fresh fish selection. Click on the fishing pole at the top of the screen for her to fish. You can have a maximum of six in a stack.
Customers can now order a variety plate of fritturas. To serve, click on each item, from left to right.

The challenge for this level is to fill the picnic basket. It will request an item; pick up the item and click on the basket for Emily to deliver it. Delivering it's request in a serving chain won't earn a bonus.

In this level, when customers finish eating an exclamation point will appear over their heads. Emily will have to walk to them and ask them to leave.
Note: They will loose happiness points waiting for Emily to come and ask them to leave, so be quick about it.

The goat is the entertainer for this restaurant.
Gino has to clean the tables, so plan accordingly.
To make eggs, first click on the egg, then the extra ingredient. It will go into the pan and cook. The sizzling sound will stop when the egg is done. Don't wait too long or it will burn.
Customers can request a bucket to use at the well. You'll need to click on the well until the bucket is full. If the well customer gets mad and leaves, the bucket will fall in the well and an exclamation point will appear over it. The well will have to be visited by whoever is cleaning tables to recover the bucket.
Eggs will have to be restocked by picking them up from the ground. You can have a maximum of six eggs stocked at a time.
Tip: Buy the Paige upgrade as soon as possible so that she can gather eggs instead of Gino.
Milk will have to be restocked by milking the cow. Click on the cow to do so. You can have a maximum of six servings in stock.
Bread will be requested in one, two, or three pieces. Pay close attention to the order. To serve one piece, click on the piece on the left. To serve two pieces, click on the piece in the middle. To serve three pieces, click on the piece on the right.

The challenge for this level is to clean three tables in a row twice.
Tip: You will have to take a chance on customers leaving, because you will need to leave your tables dirty until you have all three to clean.

The challenge for this level is to clean up the messes. Click on the exclamation point for Gino to begin. You can interrupt him at any time by clicking on an item or the register.
Tip: There are a lot of messes, and it can be hard to get them all cleaned before the end of the level. You can always make your last table wait to pay--and entertain them in the meantime--while you finish cleaning.
To make the truffles, click on the truffle ball, then on the sauce. The truffles will have to be restocked. Truffles the pig will dig them up. Click on it for Gino to pick it up. You can have a maximum of six in a stack.
To make cider, click on the bottle. When the arrow is in the green part of the meter, click again.
Tip: The apple cider will not spill over, so, to save time, make a bottle and leave it sitting under the press. (As long as you don't click it after it pours, it will sit until you need it.)

The challenge for this level is to serve two angry customers or tables of customers.
Tip: You will have to make two customers/sets of customers angry. The best plan is to leave one of your counter or well customers until he becomes angry, (two hearts) then serve him before he gets too angry and leaves. It's best to wait until your last two customers.
Level 38
The challenge for this level is to serve Gino's requests. Including him in a serving chain won't result in the bonus.
Truffles the pig is gone from this location, and truffles are restocked from the basket.

The challenge for this level is to care for the pig. The blue meter will run down over time; click on the vet or the pig to bring the meter back up to full. There will be a door bell sound if you neglect the pig for too long.

The challenge for this level, despite what it says, is to get seven combos. Serve in chains of two and check out in chains as well.

To fry the food, click on it and it will go into the pan. It will stop sizzling when it is finished. It will burn if you wait too long.
Tip: Buy the upgrade in the shop as soon as you can. With the upgrade, the fried food will not burn. You can have one precooked and waiting in the pan for when it is requested.
To make the bruchetta, click on each ingredient from left to right.
Bottles and glasses of wine have to be restocked. To do this, ring the bell and Vinicio will restock them.
Customers will ask to press grapes. They will step into the barrel and request which color of grapes they would like. Click on the correct grapes, then on the customer.

The challenge for this level is to play with Paige. She will appear in various locations around the restaurant. You will hear her laugh. Click on her and Emily will play with her for a few seconds.

There are now three types of antipasto, and customers may request a variety plate of all three. To prepare this, click each one from left to right.
Honey is now available. To prepare, click the honey, then the jar. Honey will need to be restocked from the beehive. (When you unlock other flavors of honey, you will also need to click on the third ingredient.)

Tip: Don't forget to use the pizza board so that Emily won't burn her hands.
To restock soup, click on the pot.
To prepare flower bouquets, click on the correct flower three times. For variety bouquets, click on each flower from left to right.

The challenge for this level is to prepare food for the reunion. Family members will come to the door, requesting items. Don't make them wait too long, or they will leave. Including it in a serving chain will not result in a combo bonus.

To make the necklace, click on the shell three times. Shells have to be restocked from the pile of shells on the left hand side of the restaurant.
To cook the fish on the campfire, click the fish and it will go on the stick. You can cook up to three at a time. When it is cooked, the sizzling sound will stop.
To make the raw lasagna, click on each piece from left to right.
Customers will request the hammock. There is a blue meter over them when they swing in the hammock. Don't let the meter run out; click on the customer to reset the meter.
To prepare the tea, click on the cup. When the arrow is in the green part of the meter, click it again. Vito can do other things while the tea is pouring, as long as you click in time.

In this level, the tray will slowly break apart giving less and less spaces until there is only one space left.

Necklaces can be made of three different types of shell now. Click each shell from left to right.

In this level, the volcano shakes the ground every so often. When it does, some of the items on the tray will fall off and you'll have to prepare them again.
Level 65

Challenge: Environmentally Conscious
The challenge for this level is to NOT burn any food or remove any food from the tray.
Tip: If you make a mistake and pick up a product you don't need, just leave it on your tray. As long as you don't remove it from your tray, you can still win the level.
I am unable to find all the products to purchase, I have 68 of the 70 I figure out what the last 2 products are to receive the trophy, please help. Thank you

DeleteTry going to the final level of each restaurant and check the store there for the ones you aren't finding. If that doesn't work, let me know which type you're missing and I'll try to help you figure it out.

DeleteThe ones I missed were the two "Emilia's" signs, on the 3rd and 6th restaurants. They are on the upper left hand side of the screen and I missed them! I'll work on cataloging them, in case that's not what you're missing.

ReplyDeleteI'm having a bit of trouble with the menu upgrades. I've checked every single level and it looks like I've unlocked all menu items, but I have 199 of 200. Is there a secret menu item in the very first restaurant? That's the only restaurant I cannot see a menu at....
A full listing of the all the menu items in the game will suffice if you have it...
U have to click on play to see the menu and store.

DeleteIs there any chance it is the steamer basket on Hippie Island? I've looked over my screenshots, and that's the only food upgrade that is somewhat hidden. Otherwise, they are all easily visible, so I just can't imagine what it could be that you are missing!

DeleteSadly, I changed computers and was unable to copy over my saved games. I'll see if I can tell the upgrades from my screenshots--and from now on, I'll add in a list of upgrades to my walkthroughs, as it would have been helpful for another person, too!

I had the same problem with the menu upgrades -- turned out my last item was the grilled vegetables in the second to last restaurant (where the potatoes and bison are) -- hope that helps!

DeleteHi Samantha - you probably found it by now but for anyone with the same issue not finding all the store products - I had 69 of 70 forever and was checking and checking the last level of each restaurant, it was driving me nuts. Finally found that I was skipping level 5 - go back to level 5 of the first cafe and click "play" (there is no store icon on this level until you click play). I was missing an upgrade there. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteOMG! this was it! I pressed play on day 5, and sure enough, I had 2 tables I hadn't bought! ugh lol thank you so very much, I spent days looking for these items!
DeleteAlso for menu items - if you have the surfboard and other hippie island menu items unlocked, and the flowers etc that were mentioned above - try checking the level where the customers are in the boats - the one with the boat you have to untie after handing the fishing stuff to the customer. Check the menu items on that level - it took me forever to get the lobster upgrade and also the diving helmet and another fishing item in the shack at the back.

DeleteI've played it a few times, though I can't say I'm very good at it. The two tricks I've noticed is to not jump until you're really close to the obstacle, and also that if you tap twice, Paige will jump up off of Truffles' back to reach the high apples. Have fun!
DeleteI have completed the levels with all 3 stars, I only got 2 on one and went back and got 3 but the trophy didn't unlock. Do you have to get three stars first go?
ReplyDeleteYou should be able to get the trophy by going back and completing the stars. It's that way with the other Delicious games. I don't remember if I got 3 stars first time through on this one or not--sorry!

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I've already purchased them all so I can't see what is available to give you any help. You did get the lighthouse at Marco's Fish Market? And the bird's nest in level 5? There is also the "Emilia's" sign in the New Napoli Family Restaurant (Restaurant 6). Those are the three that I remember being less obvious. I know others have had trouble, too! I'll replay it as I have time, and make screenshots of them but it will probably be a while before I can.
DeleteI've had more time than expected, so I'm working my way through the game again. I've posted screenshots under the Trophies section, and will continue to do so until I finish the game. Hopefully that will help you.

DeleteAnyone have tips for The Natural World challenge? That’s all I have left to complete, and I just can’t get through it. I changed the level of play to easiest, still can’t keep the orders in order. Driving me crazy, bjkz I’m usually so good at this wonderful game!😂
