The Basics:
Maggie's Movies - Camera, Action! is a time management game in which you prepare food and serve it to customers. This game contains an excellent tutorial at the beginning of the first level.
Tip: You can turn off game hints in the settings menu.
Crew members order items and pay for it. Click on the product requested, then click on the crew member to serve it. Some items require multiple actions.
Tip: If you make a mistake and put something on your tray that you don't need, click on it and it will be removed from the tray.
When a customer is waiting to pay you will see an image of bills and coins; the coins represent the tip. The higher the customer happiness--the more hearts a customer has--the greater the tip. Customers will become impatient and pay lower tips if they have to wait in line behind other customers for too long. Angry customers will leave and you'll be penalized.
When a customer arrives at the counter to pay, a thought bubble will show a stack of money and a stack of coins. The coins are the tip amount; as a customer decreases in happiness the tip amount will decrease as well.Doing the same action twice or three times in a row (chains) will help you achieve higher scores by giving you combo bonuses. Combos can be earned by having two or three complete orders prepared on your tray, and serving them to the customers without an interruption to do another task. Serving two customers gets you the a combo bonus of +11; three customers gives +16; four in a row earns +21.Combos can also occur when using the cash register. When you check out two customers at the same time, you get a combo bonus for +10, three customers together give a bonus of +20. Note that this is not two customers in a row, but rather at the same time. When customers are ready to pay, they will stand at the counter; wait until you have two or three waiting to pay and one click of the cash register will take care of them all at once.
Tip: Plan to serve complete orders only, as doing this will give you a Full Order bonus of +5 per table or counter customer.
You can earn a Quick bonus of +10 for quickly serving customers. An All Clean +30 bonus will be earned for having a clean set at the end of the level. The Full Stock +20 bonus is earned for having all products fully stocked at the end of the level.
The score for the story levels is measured in one, two, or three stars, depending on the amount of points you earn. You will win the level as long as you earn one star. The challenge levels have a set amount that must be met, without the option of earning more than one star.
Tip: If you can't reach three stars on a level, you can change the difficulty to a lower setting under the main menu and retry the level.
Side Objectives and Challenge Levels:
Most levels have a challenge to be completed, and there are challenge levels to complete. Challenges don't have to be completed in the regular story levels, but add points if you do complete it. Each challenge completed, whether in a challenge level or story level, earns a diamond.
Tip: Sometimes you can't both complete a challenge and get three stars in a story level. If this happens, you can play the level twice: once to complete the challenge and once to reach three stars.
Product Menu:
The menu is shown before each level. Each product has several varieties that you can unlock. Clicking on the item on the menu tab will tell you how many need to be sold to unlock the next variety. Once unlocked, you can choose to use the new product. Each product offers different bonuses, which you can read about on the product's page. To see the item options, click on "menu" at the beginning of the level.
The Mouse
The mouse will appear in every story level. He will make a squeaky sound, and will appear for a few seconds. Clicking on him will give you a bonus 100 points. I have included a screen shot of his location for every level. You will earn the "Got to catch them all" trophy for catching all 72.Shop:
The shop is accessed at the beginning of each level. Clicking on an item will tell you what bonus each upgrade gives, or what it does. Money is earned by earning stars on the story levels. You earn 100 for each star.
Tip: You can easily get through the first movie set without the bonuses from the upgrades. Save your decoration money, and you will be able to buy all the decorations for the second one right at the beginning.
Awards are earned in the form of people in the movie theater. Most will be earned just by playing through the game.
"Earned through hard work": Make at least 500 points over the 3 star score on any level.
Tip: I went back to level 3 after I had upgraded all the products, and chose products that added a tip.
Chapter 1: Louisiana Studio
Level 1
Side Objective: Give out two sets of clothes.
Mouse location:
Level 2
Side Objective: Assist in shooting two scenes.
To restock scripts, click on the pages and they will form into scripts.
When actors are on the stage, the director may request a letter. This is a camera position. Click on the corresponding letter on the camera track.
Mouse location:
Level 3
Side Objective: Serve 5 ecstatic customers.
Tip: Ecstatic customers are those with 5 hearts. Serving them means taking their money.
Restock canes by clicking on the box containing them.

Challenge 1
Challenge: Get a "two in a row" serving bonus 6 times.
Tip: The only way to achieve this is to make some customers wait so that you always serve two in a row. Otherwise, you won't have enough customers to get 6 bonuses.
Level 4
Side Objective: Write overtime work summary.
Tip: Click on the typewriter for Maggie to work. Click on any item or the register for her to stop. Keep sending her back in between customers until it is finished.
Customers will now sit at the table. When they finish, the table will need to be cleaned, or the next customers won't sit down at it. Click on it for Maggie to clean it.
To serve orange juice, click on the juice machine. A meter will appear and an arrow will begin to move; when the arrow is in the green section, click again. If the arrow goes into the red, the juice will spill over.

Side Objective: Get 100 in tips.
To make the carrot salad, click on each ingredient from left to right.
Tip: Pay close attention to the order; some will request dressing and others will not.
To make the jewels, click three times on the ruby.

Challenge 2
Challenge: Crew has low patience.
Tip: If you can win this, lower the difficulty setting or go back and play it after you have unlocked the products that give higher tips.
Tip: Be sure to clean and restock before checking out your last customers. That gave me the points I needed to win the level.
Level 7
Side Objective: Serve only full orders.
Mouse location:
Level 8
Side Objective: Don't let people feed the dog. Click on the dog when the exclamation point appears over him.
Tip: You must click before the thought balloon runs out of color.
Mouse location:
Level 9
Side Objective: Don't let any of the crew get angry.
Note: Necklaces can be made from all three jewels now. Just click on each jewel from top to bottom.

Challenge: Catch the dog 24 times. He will pop up in various locations; click on him.
Level 10
Side Objective: Always have at least 2 scripts in the stack.

Chapter 2: Movie Theatre
Level 11
Side Objective: Walk 300 meters.
Tip: Send her back and forth to the ticket puncher in between customers.
Customers will arrive at the doors and wait to have their tickets punched. Click on the ticket puncher next to the door for Maggie to go and do it.
Popcorn is made just like the juice was in the first chapter. Refill it by clicking on the box of kernels.
Make tickets by clicking on the paper cutter above the tickets.

Side Objective: Invite customers to the festival.
Tip: The customer will look at the poster and an exclamation point will appear over him in a thought bubble. Click on him before the color runs out of the thought bubble.

Side Objective: Put the decorations. Click on the box for her to begin.
Tip: Clicking on an item or the register will interrupt Maggie's decorating. Click on the box again for her to return to it.

DeleteFor challenge 12, just find the tool that the worker is looking for. Whenever he thinks of one, it will show up in a bubble above his head. Find it, click on it, then return to the guy looking for it by clicking on him. Keep doing that throughout the level.

ReplyDeleteI still haven't played that level, so I don't have any sure tips yet, but. . . you can always lower the difficulty setting for just that level if you need to. Also, you can wait until you've unlocked all the items and use only the ones that give an extra tip.
DeleteI made sure all the tables were clean and that my stock was full before I checked out the last customer, which gave me the Full Stock and All Clean bonuses, and that gave me enough points to win the level.
DeleteOops sorry, I was looking at Level 12 instead of Challenge 12. Anyway, I just did it again to be sure, and it's pretty easy. Just make and do everything in pairs of 2. It's easier to concentrate on just 2 sets at a time. That means, 2 pairs of serving, 2 of cleaning, and 2 of ringing out at the register. If you should get to the end and it doesn't work out, just let the customer get mad enough to leave. As far as the points go, I didn't have any problems doing it this way.
ReplyDeleteI have another question though, has anyone got to the extras yet? After you play 60, there is an extras so you can get all your trophies and diamonds. Having trouble with Challenge 2 where it says: Don't serve several customers in a row or clean tables in a row. So I get don't clean tables in a row, but what do they mean by 'several'? Is it 3 or 4? Seems like it works for 3 but the next time I do 3 customers, it makes me start over. Ok, back to work on it.

If you can't get it now, wait until you've unlocked all the products that give extra tips and try it again. Sometimes it looks like I won't get 3 stars but when the customers come out of the theatre and I get the All Clean and Restocked bonuses, then it boosts me over the edge.

ReplyDeleteWhich level are you on? Seems like there was a challenge/goal that you had to serve customers even though their order would disappear after a bit. If that is so, then it should show up again after a few seconds. I've looked through my walkthrough, though, and can't find it. (It's a challenge in other games, so I may be remembering wrong.) Anyway, what level are you on?
DeleteNo that's not it. I really think it's a glitch. It happened on level 48 and 49. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it didn't do it on level 48, but then when I got to level 49 it happened again. No matter what I give them they won't take it.

I'm guessing it is a glitch and of course that means I may have to start from the beginning again unless anybody out there in cyberland can offer a suggestion.

ReplyDeleteDo you have the Collector's Edition? If so, on the top right hand of the level map you will see a circle with a snowy scene and Maggie in it. Click on that and it will take you to the Silent Film Festival bonus levels.

You can compare your scenes to mine to see if there is something you don't have, but other than replaying the entire game, I've got no way to see what the upgrades are. So sorry!

DeleteYou may need to ignore the bonus challenge of never having more than 3 items on your tray, so that you can serve only full orders and serve some in chains.
