Delicious -- Emily's Road Trip Walkthrough and Tips

July 5, 2019: According to an email from Gamehouse, the new update to the game  today should correct the bugs.

The Basics Delicious: Emily's Road Trip is a time management game in which you prepare food/products and serve customers. This game contains an excellent tutorial at the beginning of the first level. If you are an experienced player of the Delicious family of games, you can skip it, but I advise players less familiar with these games to play it through. Game hints are also provided, to explain new features. These hints can be turned off in the settings menu.

Customers order food and pay for it.   Click on the product requested, then click on the customer to serve it.  Some items require multiple actions.  Counter customers will immediately check out, while table customers take time to eat.
Tip: If you make a mistake and put something on your tray that you don't need, click on it and it will be removed from the tray.


When a customer is waiting to pay you will see an image of bills and coins; the coins represent the tip.  The higher the customer happiness--the more hearts a customer has--the greater the tip.  Unfortunately, the customers don't have happiness levels shown by a number of hearts next to them as many other games do, so you have to pay attention to customer facial expressions to know how they are feeling.  You will know if a customer has maximum happiness (is ecstatic) because there will be a pulsing heart next to his head.  If a customer is angry, his face becomes red.  If he becomes furious it is shown by a storm cloud; a furious customer needs to be served immediately or he will leave and you will be penalized -50.  Customers will become impatient and pay lower tips if they have to wait in line behind other customers for too long.

When a customer arrives at the counter to pay, a thought bubble will show a stack of money and a stack of coins.  The coins are the tip amount; as a customer decreases in happiness the tip amount will decrease as well.

Doing the same action twice or three times in a row (chains) will help you achieve higher scores by giving you combo bonuses.  Combos can be earned by having two or three complete orders prepared on your tray, and serving them to the customers without an interruption* to do another task. 

*Serving customer orders can be interrupted by using the cash register, and the chain will not be broken.

Combos can also occur when using the cash register.  When you check out two customers at the same time, you get a combo bonus. Note that this is not two customers in a row, but rather at the same time.  When customers are ready to pay, they will stand at the counter; wait until you have two or three waiting to pay and one click of the cash register will take care of them all at once.

Tip: Plan to serve complete orders only, as doing this will give you a bonus per table or counter customer.

Combo bonuses are also given for cleaning more than one table at a time in a row. (+10 for two tables, +20 for three).  There is also a +20 combo for having all tables clean at the end of the level. and a +30 points for being fully stocked at the end of the level.

The score for the story levels is measured in one, two, or three stars, depending on the amount of points you earn.  You will win the level as long as you earn one star.  The challenge levels have a set amount that must be met, without the option of earning more than one star.

Challenges and Challenge Levels:
Most of the levels have a challenge to be completed, and there are also challenge levels to complete. Challenges don't have to be completed in the regular story levels, but give a diamond if you do complete it.  Each challenge completed, whether in a challenge level or story level, earns a diamond.

Tip: Sometimes you can't both complete a challenge and get three stars in a story level.  If this happens, you can play the level twice: once to complete the challenge and once to reach three stars.

Menu/Unlocking Food:
The menu is shown before each level.  Each product has several varieties that you can unlock.  Clicking on the item on the menu tab will tell you how many need to be sold to unlock the next variety.  Once unlocked, you can choose to use the new product.  Each product offers different bonuses, which you can read about on the product's page. To see the item options, click on "menu" at the beginning of the level.

Carl the Mouse

Carl will appear in every story level.  He will make a squeaky sound, and will appear for a few seconds.  Clicking on him will give you a bonus 100 points.  I have included a screen shot of his location for every level.

Shop:
The shop is accessed at the beginning of each level by clicking on the shop icon, or by clicking on the shop icon on the map.  Clicking on an item will tell you what bonus it gives, or what it does. Money is earned by earning stars on the story levels.  You earn 120 for each star.  You will need to earn three stars on at least some of the levels to have enough to buy all the decorations.

Diamonds

Diamonds are earned for completing each challenge level, and the challenges in the story levels.  They are spent to decorate the campsite.  You will have to play the daily bonus challenges to earn enough diamonds to buy all the decor for the trophy.

Trophies

Trophies are earned in the form of snapshots, and can be viewed by clicking the trophy icon at the top of the map screen. Click on the item's outline to see the name of the trophy and what needs to be done to earn it. Most will be earned simply by playing through the game.

Completist Shopper: You will have to play levels more than once to earn enough money to purchase all.

A Nice Camp: You will have to play the daily bonus challenges to earn enough diamonds to buy all the decor for the trophy.

New Tastes: At present, this trophy seems to be bugged.  I've sent in a message to tech support and will post if/when I hear back.

Chapter 1: Tough Decisions

Level 1:
To make the orange boxes, carefully note how many oranges the customer wants.  Then, click on the box, then the oranges the right amount of times (two times for two oranges, for example), then click on the ribbon.

To make the rice salad, click on the jar, then on each ingredient in order from left to right.

For the apple bobbing mini game, you must first pick the apple from the tree on the right.

Challenge 1-1
The challenge for this level is to check out three customers at once, two times.

Level 2:

To restock the onion bags, click on the onion. You can have a total of 6 bags prepared at a time.

Level 3:
The challenge for this level is to make 6 quick bonuses.  To do this, don't wait to make serving chains.

To make the carrots, click on them and they will go into the pan.  The pan will make a sizzling noise, then stop, and the carrots will blink and appear cooked.  Don't wait too long to pick them up or they will burn.

Challenge 1-2:
The challenge for this level is to serve a completely full tray 5 times.  To do this, you'll need to wait until you have enough orders.  You may have customers loose hearts while waiting, but you can make it up with quick bonuses over the rest of the level after you complete the challenge.

The challenge for this level is to not run out of stock of onions.  Click on the onion to restock them; you can have a total of 6 stocked at once.

To make the pineapples, click first on the container, then twice on the pineapple.

The challenge for this level is to listen to Francois' stories.  Click on him when the exclamation mark appears.
Note: There seems to be a glitch on this level, as he never tells his fifth story, so the challenge fails every time.

The challenge for this level is to make 12 smoothies.
Tip: You won't have 12 people order smoothies, so you will need to make them and then delete them from your tray.

To make the smoothie, click on the glass, then click on it again when the meter hand is in the green.

Challenge 1-5:
The challenge for this level is to check out 10 customers as their heart shakes.  This is EXTREMELY difficult to manage.  I served customers one at a time and tried to check them out one at a time so that I could wait for the heart to shake.  You will have customers get angry.  Once you get all 10 of them, start making chains again and giving good service so as to make up your points to get 3 stars.

The challenge for this level is to get 400 in tips.  Make sure you serve quickly to get the best tips.

Chapter 2: Pit Stop
Level 11:
To make ice cream scoops, click on the ice cream container the amount of scoops needed.

To make the chocolate milkshake, click on the glass, the drink box, the whipped cream, then the sprinkles.

Coffee is made like the smoothies in the last chapter, but the coffee beans will need to be restocked from the bag beside the maker.

To make burgers, click the burger, then the sauce bottle.

Customers may request records.  They are located to the left of the door.

Challenge 2-1:
The challenge for this level is to serve 17 ecstatic customers (with 4 or more hearts).

Level 12:
The challenge for this level is to receive the luggage from Patrick when he comes to the door.

When making pancakes, be sure and note how many are being ordered, and click on the pancake the amount of times that the customer requests.

Menus will be requested sometimes; they are located to the right of the door, being held by the Marilyn Monroe statue.

The challenge for this level is to make 6 chain combos.

Challenge 2-2:
The challenge for this level is to get 17 quick bonuses.  Don't make serving chains; just serve as quickly as possible.

Level 14:
The challenge for this level is to clean the blender.  To do this, click on the blender and Betty will begin to clean it.  You can interrupt her by clicking on the register or an item, but be sure and send her back in between customers until it is finished.

Challenge 2-3:
The challenge for this level is to not stand still for more than 8 seconds.  Click on the register or a table to make Betty move, or even make an item you don't need and delete it from your tray.
Note: Moving Emily will not work in this instance.

Level 16:
The challenge for this level is to take care of Larry.  A noise will sound and an exclamation point will appear.  Click on Larry when this happens.

To make fries, click on the uncooked fries.  They will go into the grease.  Click on them again.  When they are done they will blink and appear cooked, and the noise will stop.  Don't wait too long or they will burn.
Note: If you have gotten the extra fryer from the store, you'll notice that it does not work.
Update: I received an email from tech support on 7 June, saying that it has been fixed.  If you're having this problem, delete your version and redownload it, and it should be corrected.

Fries may be ordered with a hamburger or with just ketchup.  Click on the items in order from left to right.

Chapter 3: Perfect Strangers

Level 21:
The challenge for this level is that Emily is tired and if you fill up the meter by making her walk, she will move slower.  Pause her occasionally to let the meter run down.

To refill the fig topping, you have to pick a fig from the tree on the top right.  Figs will have to regrow.

To make the steak, click on it and it will go on the grill and sizzle, then blink and stop when it is done.  When you pick it up, then add salad or grilled bread depending on what was ordered.

To make the grilled onion brochette, click on the spear, then on the onion three times.  It will go onto the grill and sizzle, then blink and stop when it is done..

Note: The left side of the grill is for steak, and the right side is for brochettes.

Challenge 3-1:
The challenge for this level is to make 6 serving combos.  You may have to make some customers angry waiting to do this.
Tip: This is a good time to buy Paige as an entertainer, to help keep table customers happy as they wait.

The challenge for this level is to get 8 quick bonuses.

To make the soup, click on the pot.  When the meter arrow gets to the green, click on it again, then on the topping.
Tip: Keep turning on the soup so that it will be ready when you need to serve it.

The challenge for this level is to serve only full orders.

Level 24:
The challenge for this level is to not serve steaks to the senior citizens when they order them.  None tried to order any from me, so I don't know if you can go ahead and serve them the rest of their order or if you need to let them get angry and leave.

The challenge for this level is to encourage Tully by clicking on him when the meter appears over his head.  Don't let the meter run out of blue or you will lose the challenge.

Challenge 3-3:
The challenge for this level is that table customers order twice.

Level 26:
The challenge for this level is to make 15 brochettes.  You'll not have that many ordered, so you'll need to make extras and delete them from your tray.

To make the bucket of water, click on the bucket next to the water pump at the top left.  It will take a short time to fill and will blink when it is full.
Tip: Fill up the bucket each time, after you pick up your full bucket, and that way it will be ready for you when you need it.

The challenge for this level is to get 450 in tips.  Focus on quick service to keep them all happy.

The challenge for this level is that a customer's order will disappear from the thought bubble after a short bit, and you'll need to have the order memorized.  If you forget, they will think it again after a while, or you can click on them for Emily to go to them, and they'll show it again.

The challenge for this level is that food left on the tray too long will go bad and disappear from your tray.  The meter on the upper right will show you how long you have until the food spoils.  Don't try for serving combos in this level.

Chapter 4: Looks Can Be Deceiving

Level 31:
The challenge for this level is to serve customers within 30 seconds of each other.  The timer on the upper right will show you how much time you have left.
Tip: If you don't have another customer lined up, wait as late as you can before serving, to give the next customer time to order.

To serve darts, click three times on the dart below the counter.

Beer is served the same way as smoothies and coffee.

To refill beer glasses, click on the glasses below the counter.  Each click will put up one glass.

The challenge for this level is that the cash register will break sometimes.  When the empty meter appears over the register, click on the register to fix it.

The challenge for this level is to accept the 5 packages.  When he appears, a doorbell noise will sound.  Don't make him wait too long or he'll leave.

Darts can now be ordered in two colors.  Pay close attention to the order.

The challenge for this level says "careful with the tray", but nothing happened with the tray for me.

Make coffee the same way as other drinks.  When you pick it up, click on the chocolate and then the cookie.

The challenge for this level is to stand still for 30 seconds.
Tip: I suggest doing this when you only have a couple of customers left.  That way, you won't have customers stack up and get angry as they would if you do it at the beginning of the level.

The challenge for this level is to not make any mistakes by either spilling drinks, burning burgers, or deleting items from your tray.

Burgers are made the same way as steaks were in the last chapter.  Click on the cooked burger, then the sides requested, from left to right.

The challenge for this level is that sometime items will fall from the tray.  There's no real strategy to this level; just put up with the frustration and do the best you can!

Chapter 5: Second Chances

Note: There appears to be a glitch causing the mother/child requesting costumes to never leave until their hearts drain out.  I've reported this to support.

Level 41:
The challenge for this level is to make 20 potions.  You won't have that many ordered, so you will need to make and delete them.

Potions are made the same way as soup and chili.  Be sure to note the color and bottle shape.

To make the fruit snacks, first click on the kiwi, then the strawberry, then the eyes.  Some require more than one piece of each.  You'll have to pay close attention to the amount of slices.  This can be tricky.

To make the shaped cookies, click the correct color dough, then the cookie cutter.

To make spider cotton candy, click on a cookie, then the cotton candy. It works like the previous drinks.  When it's done, click the candy, then the spiders.  Restock the cookie wafers from the jar.

Kids will request costumes.  Pay attention to the pieces.  They are located at the top left.

Challenge 5-1:
The challenge for this level is to serve 15 items that were already on your tray.
This is pretty much impossible.
Note: With the June 2019 update, the challenge has changed to 3 items, instead of 15.  I placed brownies and jellies on my tray and had no trouble.

The challenge for this level is to find Ralph 8 times.  He appears in various parts of the restaurant.

The challenge for this level is to serve a full tray 6 times.
Tip: To do this, you will need to divide one order in half, so that you can serve three pieces at a time.  This will loose your full order bonus, so if you can't reach three stars, play it a second time focusing on stars and not bothering with the challenge.

Challenge 5-2:
The challenge for this level is that the middle slot is locked.  This means that when you put in a second item, it slides to the locked slot.  When you delete the item in the first slot, the one in the second/blocked slot will slide to the first.  The item in the blocked slot can not be served.
Tip: When preparing an order, always make two of the first item, so that one is in the locked slot.  That way, the second item will not be locked, and you can delete the extra after you serve the order.

Tip: I had one customer left at the end of the level, so I let him get mad and leave so that I didn't loose the challenge.

Challenge 5-4:
The challenge for this level is that potions, cotton candy, and fruit will go bad if left on the tray too long.  The meter will show you how long you have before the item disappears from your tray.
Tip: If you have an order with both products, deliver each one when you make it so that you won't loose the challenge.

The challenge for this level is to not make any mistakes.  Don't let the cotton candy ruin or delete and item from your tray.

Tip: You will have to make customers wait, and they may get angry.  Try to serve as quickly as possible to make the customers happy before the have to wait.

The challenge for this level is to get 500 in tips.
Tip: Serve and checkout quickly to keep the customers happy.  The happier they are, the more they tip.
Tip: Use Ralph as an entertainer for your table customers to increase happiness.

Chapter 6: Home, Sweet Home

Level 51:
The challenge for this level is to fix the oven.  Click on it and Francois will begin to work on it.  You can interrupt him at any time by clicking on the register or an item.  Keep sending him back in between customers.

To make tea, click on the pot, and when the meter hand is in the green, click on the cup.
Tip: Keep turning on the tea pot so that it will be ready when you need it.

To make the sandwich, click on the bread, the topping, and then twice on the papaya.  The fruit needs to be restocked from the one on the shelf on the left hand side.
Tip: Restock the fruit any time you have a second, so that you aren't having to restock it when you need it right away.

The challenge for this level is to get 3 quick bonuses in a row.

To make the buns, click on the bun and it will go into the oven.  The over will ding when it is baked.  Click on it, then on the raisins.

The challenge for this level is to plant the seeds.  Click on the garden and Francois will begin.  Interrupt him by clicking on any item or the register.

To make the flower bouquet, click three times on the flower and then on the wrapping.

Tip: Serve quickly and don't try for chain bonuses.  If you can't reach three stars that way, play it twice: once to win the challenge and once to ignore the challenge and earn three stars.

Two kinds of fruit are available for the sandwiches now, so pay close attention!

Two kinds of tea mugs are available now, too, so look closely!

The challenge for this level is to keep an eye on the garden by clicking on the scarecrow every time the blue meter appears.  Don't let the blue run out or you will loose the challenge.

Flowers can be requested in two colors now so look closely at your order.

To make a pie, click the pie plate, then the fruit.  It will go into the oven and ding when it is baked.
Note: There is currently a bug that is keeping customers from ordering them.

Note that for the tangerines, you do not need to click the plate.
