"Heart's Medicine: Time to Heal" Walkthrough and Tips

Heart's Medicine: Time to Heal is a time management game where you play as Allison, a hospital intern, in various locations, serving patients in a variety of ways.  This game has challenge levels as well as regular story levels, and includes mini games.
Side note: I did not enjoy the tasks in the first location, The Ward, very much and thought about abandoning the game.  I'm glad that I did not because the game improves greatly with the next location.  So, if you feel the same, stick with it and I think you'll be glad you did.

Basics:

This game offers a very nice tutorial at the beginning.  Even if you are very familiar with time management games, I recommend you play through the tutorial to accustom yourself to the gameplay.

Game hints are also available and will walk you through any new features of the game.  These hints can be turned off in the settings menu.

The score is calculated by the amount of hearts you earn over the course of the shift.  Patients arrive with a certain number of hearts.  When you check out a patient, you earn the number of hearts the patient then has.  You must work quickly to keep the patients from loosing hearts.  "Quick action", "quick assign",  and "quick treatment" will cause the patient to gain a heart.  The mini games will also gain hearts for the patients.  Waiting too long or loosing a mini game will cause a patient to loose a heart.

Bonuses: Checking out two patients in a row gives you a +1 bonus, three or more patients in a row gives a  bonus  of +2 at checkout.
Gold heart patients give an addition bonus of +1 at checkout.  Treating multiple patients in a row gives a Treatment Chain bonus of +1 per patient.
You can also earn an extra heart by getting a quick bonus.  The color on the thought balloon shows the quick bonus; when all the color is drained out, the bonus is gone.

Each level offers a challenge which is a bonus task to be completed.  You can still pass the level without completing the challenge, but if you do complete it you will gain a diamond at the end of the level.  Hearts are also added to your score for completing a challenge.

There are five Challenge Levels per department.  These do not advance the story and may be skipped if you wish, but if you do complete it you will gain a diamond at the end of the level.  Oliver the guinea pig is not in the challenge levels.

For each challenge you complete (regular level or challenge level), you will earn one diamond.  These are used to purchase decorations for the new wing.

For each star you earn when you complete a level, you will earn 100 credits of shopping money.  This will allow you to upgrade the departments.  You do not earn shopping money from completing challenge levels.
Tip: The first location, the Ward, can easily be completed without upgrades.  Save your shopping money until the second location--then you can buy all the upgrades at the first.

Tip: If you put something on your tray that you don't want, click on it to remove it.

Mini Games

Many of the medical actions performed will require a mini game.  The first time the game occurs, there is a walk through of it.  The faster you complete the mini game, the more hearts your patient will gain.  Each location has a separate set of mini games that are appropriate to the department.  There is a trophy, Mason, for scoring three hearts at least once in every mini game.

Oliver the guinea pig
Oliver appears in each of the regular levels.  He will make a "squeak squeak" sound when he pops up.  Clicking on him will give +10 points.  If you don't find him, he will come back throughout the level.  A screenshot of his location will be provided for each level.  (He does not appear in the Challenge Levels).

Note: If you click "skip" on the cut scenes before a level, Oliver will not make a noise in that level.  I don't know why, but it happens every time.

Trophies
Trophies are earned in the form of pictures of characters from the game.  Most will be earned simply by playing through the game.  Here are a few exceptions.

Earl: Have the item already on your tray before the patient asks for it.  See level 2 for a tip.

Jenny: Fill up every station, have at least one waiting and one checking out.  The best time to do this is on the first level.  They'll have to loose hearts while you're waiting for all the patients, but then you can restart the level and play it for real.

Introduction
There are mini games in the introductory story.  .

In this screen, you will need to tap quickly until you fill the circle with color.

Next you'll need to find the items for Allison.

The final two tasks (unfasten the straps and sew up the wound) will be self-explanatory.

The Ward
Level 1

The challenge for this level is to score one star in the first half of the level.  This should be easy to do, as the practice is still rather slow and the patients are, well, patient.

Oliver's location is pointed out to you in this level.

Level 2

The challenge for this level is to cheer up Earl.  When the exclamation point appears over him, click on him.  You'll need to do this four times.  You will need to be quick to go to him, or the shift will end before you have visited him four times.

To restock the band-aids, you'll need to click on the tray at the back of the room.  You can have a maximum of three stocked at a time. (Cotton balls and cotton swabs will be added later.  All three will be restocked at the same time.)

Tip: This is a good time to earn the "Earl" award for having what the patient needs on your tray before s/he asks for it.  Place a bandaid on your tray; eventually someone will ask for it and you'll win the trophy.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 1

Help Emily serve the customers.  Click on the customer then on either the tray or a chair (which ever they request).  Click on the food item to add it to the tray and then on the customer to deliver it.  To restock the chips, click on the box below the register.

Level 3

The challenge for this level is to accept the deliveries.  Simply click on the delivery man to accept the package.

Swabs are restocked just like the band-aids.

Oliver's Location:

Level 4

The challenge for this level is to check on Earl.  There is a meter under him, which is slowly running out.  Be sure to check on him before it runs out. You'll have to do this repeatedly throughout the day.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 2

People from other departments keep taking the bandaids, cotton swabs and cotton balls.  The challenge for this level is to keep them in stock or when you need them.

Level 5

The challenge for this level is to deliver more than one item to more than one patient four times.  You may have to make a patient wait and loose hearts to do this.  When you have at least two patients on the beds, collect both items needed and deliver them.

Oliver's location:

Level 6

The challenge for this level is to help 30 patients before their quick bonus runs out.  The color on the thought balloon shows the quick bonus; when all the color is drained out, the bonus is gone.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 3

The challenge for this level is to finish with a passing score while only scoring hearts through combos and bonuses.

Tip: Remember to only check out patients when you have more than one at the check out station.  Also, only treat your bed patients when you can use two items at a time.

Level 7

To pass the challenge for this level, you will need to check out four golden heart patients at one time, and do this three times.  You'll need to earn hearts by quick treatment, quick action and quick bonus.
Tip: Golden heart patients do not loose hearts, so you can make them wait at the check out station as long as you need.

Oliver's location:  (Note: You will not be able to see him if the shower room door is closed.)

Level 8

The challenge for this level is to find all the records.  Locations are marked below.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 4

The challenge for this level is to catch all the guinea pigs.  One will pop up with a squeak; try to find it quickly.  You will need to catch 30 to complete the challenge.
Note: I found this a difficult level to catch.  Finding the guinea pigs was easy enough, but getting enough hearts to pass the level was a definite challenge.  The key for me was checking out four or five patients at a time.

Level 9

The challenge for this level is to never run out of stock.  The best policy is to restock every time you use a cotton swab, cotton ball or bandaid.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 5

The challenge for this level is to keep Allison moving.  If she stands still for 8 seconds, the challenge is failed.  The meter will show you how many seconds she has been standing still. You can click on any empty bed and she will walk there.  You can also click on the restock station for her to walk to that location, even if you don't need to restock.
Tip: When she is bandaging a patient, the timer is still counting down.  Be sure to click on another station while you are bandaging so that she will walk as soon as she is done.

Level 10

The challenge for this level is to help 10 patients in one minute.  I think this means within one minute of their request, because it doesn't seem to be 10 patients in one minute's time.  Either way, I completed playing the level the ordinary way.

Oliver's location:

The Pharmacy

Level 11

The challenge for this level is to earn nine hearts by finding medicine.  This is a mini-game where you click on the medicine the patient is requesting.  You will earn one, two, or three hearts depending on how fast you find the match.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 6

The challenge for this level is to earn 100 hearts when all the patients enter with 3 hearts or less.
Tip: The key to winning this level is to perform "quick action", "quick assign",  and "quick treatment" to gain extra hearts.

Pills are introduced on this level.  The patient will request one type or one of all three types.

Level 12

The challenge for this level is to accept the deliveries.  Don't wait too long, or the delivery man will leave.

Oliver's location:

Level 13

The challenge for this level is to search through all the boxes.  Send Allison to the location by clicking on the exclamation point.  You will see a meter that begins filling as she works.  You can interrupt her by clicking on any station.  Keep sending her back in between patients until the task is completed.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 7
Jenny fetches the items needed in this level.  There really isn't any challenge to it, as Jenny is as quick as Allison.

Level 14

The challenge for this level is to not remove any item from your tray.  This doesn't mean not to use any item from your tray, but not to remove an item that you have put there by mistake.

Oliver's location:

Level 15

The challenge for this level is to print 7 prescriptions. To print a prescription, click on the printer.  You can have a maximum of 3 in the stack.
Tip: Put the prescriptions on your tray, and make more.  Then remove the ones off your tray and make another until you have printed 7 of them.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 8

In this level, you earn extra hearts for the mini games.

Level 16

The challenge for this level is to not treat the same patient twice in a row.  The opportunities for this to happen are few, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.  You may have to make a patient wait, though, until a new patient arrives.

Oliver's location:

Level 17

The challenge for this level is to arrive at the station before the patient gets there a total of 12 times.  You'll need to utilize the magazine rack to help keep patients happy.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 9

The challenge for this level is to help Emily in the canteen.  (See Challenge 1.)

To make the sandwich, click the ingredients in order from left to right.

To make the coffee, click on the cup.  When the meter is in the green, click again.  If you wait too long, it will spill and you'll have to do it again.

Level 18

The challenge for this level is for Daniel to hang up the posters.  Click on the exclamation points for him to hang them up.

Oliver's location:

Level 19

The challenge for this level is to all three waiting chairs filled at once, and do this 5 different times.  You'll most likely have to let patients loose hearts to do this.

Oliver's location:

After this level is a story scene with the goal of finding all the medication.  Locations marked below.

Challenge 10

In this level, you can only carry one item on your tray at a time,

Level 20

The challenge for this level is to have 20 patients use the magazine stand.  The best policy is to put every patient at the magazine stand for a second and then on to their requested station.

Oliver's location:

The Emergency Room

Level 21

The challenge for this level is to treat the patients coming in on stretchers within six seconds.
Tip: This can be very difficult.  I made sure NOT to chain actions so that Allison would be free after every patient in case a stretcher came in.  Also, keep both tools on Allison's tray all the time so that you won't have to go and get them--this will save a great deal of time.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 11

The challenge for this level is to help Emily in the canteen, as in Challenge 1.

Level 22

The challenge for this level is to spend under 20 seconds disinfecting.  This means you'll need to be quick with the mini game.

To prepare the disinfectant, first click on the cotton balls (one click for each one you need) and then on the bottle.  To restock the cotton balls, click on the box of cotton balls below the scalpel.  You can have a maximum of nine in a stack.

Oliver's location:

Level 23

The challenge for this level is to care for Mr. Asher.  An exclamation point will appear over him.  Click on him quickly and Allison will hurry over.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 12

In this level, patients can't gain golden hearts.

Level 24

The challenge for this level is to score at least 15 hearts by removing glass.  The only way to do this is to get three hearts for each glass patient.

Oliver's location:

Level 25

The challenge for this level is to care for Mr. Heart.  An exclamation point will appear over him.  Click on him quickly and the doctor will hurry over.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 13
In this level, the patient's request will only stay visible for a few seconds.  You must memorize it to know what the patient needs.  It will show again, though, if the patient isn't treated soon.

Level 26

The challenge for this level is to help Lisa.  Send Allison to her by clicking on the exclamation point.  You will see a meter that begins filling as she sits with Lisa.  You can interrupt her by clicking on any station.  Keep sending her back in between patients until the meter is filled.
Tip: I actually waited until the end of the level, when I had gold heart patients in line.  Then, I sent Allison to Lisa for the entire time.  Gold heart patients don't loose hearts, so I was able to have them wait the entire time.

Oliver's location:

Level 27

The challenge for this level is to treat the patients within 15 seconds of each other.  When you finish treating a patient, the stopwatch begins.  You have 15 seconds to get to the next patient.
Tip: Keep both tools on your tray for quick treatment.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 14

In this level, you only get hearts from patients checking out three-at-a-time or more.  If you check out just one or two patients, you won't get any score from them.
Tip: It can be hard to pass this level.  Try to check out five patients at a time every time so as to get the bonus hearts.

Level 28

The challenge for this level is to treat Mr. Asher.  There is a blue bar below him that slowly runs out; a yellow meter keeps the same time in the upper right hand corner. You must keep sending Allison to him to bring the bar back to full.  If the bar empties, you will fail this task.

Oliver's location:

Level 29

The challenge for this level is for Allison to walk 800 steps.
Tip: Send her back and forth between empty beds and chairs to bring up the number of steps.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 15

The challenge for this level is to find 30 guinea pigs.  They'll squeak when they pop up, aren't difficult to find.

Level 30

The challenge for this level is to not let any patients leave with less than three hearts.  If you have unhappy patients, be sure and check them out before their hearts drop below three.

Oliver's location:

Note: There are tasks to do in the cut scene between levels, but it will walk you through them.

Physiology

Level 31

The challenge for this level is to check out two patients with three or less hearts.  You will have to leave a patient waiting so his hearts will decrease.
Tip: Once you have a patient's level low, you can deliberately fail the mini game so as not to earn any more hearts.
Tip: You may have to play this level twice: once to win the challenge and once to earn three stars.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 16

In this level, you have only one waiting chair.  If you loose more than three patients, you loose the challenge.

Level 32

The challenge for this level is to walk 500 steps or less.  This is easy to do as long as you don't send Allison to unnecessary stations and send patients to the bed closest to where she is already standing.

Oliver's location:

Level 33

Princess is introduced in this level.  She can be used to cheer up patients.  Click on her, then on the patient you want her to visit.  She can only visit patients that are waiting; if a patient is performing a task.  She will perform a trick; when she is finished, the patient will gain a heart.  Take the time to use her, especially when the patients are waiting.  There is a trophy for using her to cheer up patients 50 times.

The challenge for this level is to find all of Princess' toys.  Locations marked below.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 17
Ice packs are now available.  Click on it, and it will go to the freezer.  It will blink when it is frozen.  You can keep one on ice indefinitely.

In this level, it takes longer to care for some of the patients.

Level 34

The challenge for this level is to clean the messes.  Send Allison to the location by clicking on the exclamation point.  You will see a meter that begins filling as she works.  You can interrupt her by clicking on any station.  Keep sending her back in between patients until the task is completed.

Oliver's location:

Level 35

In this level, you can't help more than 15 patients per minute.  Keep your eye on the meter and make some patients wait.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 18
The challenge for this level is to help Emily in the canteen, as in Challenge 1.

Level 36

The challenge for this level is to hide from Sophia.  When she is coming, an exclamation point will appear.  Click on it and Allison will hide.
Tip: I had to play this one through twice: once, without queuing actions and keeping my eye out for the exclamation point the whole time, and a second time ignoring the challenge to earn three stars.

Oliver's location:

Level 37

The challenge for this level is to have at least one of every patient type be a gold heart patient.  You'll have to remember which patients have already been golden hearts and work extra hard on those that haven't.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 19

The challenge for this level is to send Princess to a station Allison is at four times.
Tip: The only way to do this is if Allison finished treating the patient, the patient wants to go somewhere else, and Allison stays at that station.  While the patient is waiting to be directed to the next station, send Princess over.
Tip: Don't queue actions for Allison after stopping at a patient's bed or at the bars, in case they are going to request another station.  She will not wait for Princess to finish, but will go to the next task, thereby not getting credit for Princess' visit.
Tip: You can also call Princess back to the same patient more than once, and finish the challenge with just one patient, which is what I did.

Level 38

The challenge for this level is to prepare the food.  Send Allison to the location by clicking on the exclamation point.  You will see a meter that begins filling as she works.  You can interrupt her by clicking on any station.  Keep sending her back in between patients until the task is completed.

Oliver's location:

Level 38

The challenge for this level is to prepare six ice packs.  You may not have that many requests for them, so prepare one, put it on your tray, and then delete it.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 20

In this level, patients request more treatments.

Level 40

The challenge for this level is to use Princess to cheer up a child three times.

Oliver's location:

Radiology

Level 41

The challenge for this level is to check out patients within 20 seconds of their treatment, which means you can't let a line of patients form at the checkout desk.
Tip: You may need to play this level twice: once without checking out a group of patients so that you can win the challenge, and a second time, checking out groups of patients and not paying attention to the timer, to win three stars.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 21

Every step Allison takes registers on the meter, if she walks too much, she will tire out.  It would make sense that challenge would be to keep Allison from becoming too tired, but actually she needs to become tired at least once for the challenge to be won.  (I don't get it either!)

Level 42
The challenge for this level is to score 28 quick bonuses.

Injections are introduced in this level.  First click the right color of contrast fluid, then the needle.

Oliver's location:

Level 41

Oliver's location:

Challenge 23
The challenge for this level is to help Emily in the canteen.  (See Challenge 1.)

To make waffles, click on the waffle and it will go into the waffle iron.  Click on it and it will go to the plate.  Don't wait to long or it will burn.  You can have a maximum of five in the stack.

Level 46

The challenge for this level is to not get the same item in a row.  You'll need to remember what you last picked up.
Tip: If the same item is requested twice, pick up something else in between.  Remember you can also delete something from your tray.

Oliver's location:

Level 47

The challenge for this level is to score at least 12 hearts with the x-ray mini game.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 24

The challenge for this level is to find the 30 guinea pigs.

Level 48

In this level you cannot have more than one item on your tray.

Oliver's location:

Level 49

The challenge for this level is to not check out any patient under 8 hearts.  You'll really need to work fast to keep them all 8 and above.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 25

Jenny carries the items in this level.  She can really slow you down.
Tip: I found that keeping ultrasound gel and an xray on my tray all the time really sped things up.

Level 50

The challenge for this level is to prep Mr. Asher for surery.  An exclamation point will appear over him.  Click on him and Allison will hurry over.  You will have to perform a mini game each time,

Oliver's location:

Surgery

Level 51

The challenge for this level is to have an empty tray at the end of the level, without removing items. Tip: It's best to only put items on your tray that you need immediately,

To refill the hats and masks, click on the pile of them under the station in the middle right of the screen.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 26

In this level, the doctors begin with low hearts, and their hearts will drop quickly if they are outside the operating room.

Level 52

The challenge for this level is to score 12 hearts with the heartbeat mini game.

Oliver's location:

Level 53

On this level, you have to get a quick bonus for item delivery every time.
Tip: Here is how I did this: only let one or two surgeons into the room.  Don't worry about the others, even if they get mad and leave.  Focus on taking care of one (or two if you think you can) all the way through.  Then, let another surgeon enter.  Doing this, you'll get enough hearts to earn one star, which is all you need to pass the level.  Once you've passed the challenge, go back and replay it ignoring the challenge, to win three stars.
Tip: Keep a filled syringe and the needle/thread combo on your tray to save time.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 27

In this level, the surgeons are quick to loose hearts.  Luckily, the score needed is not very high.

Level 54

The challenge for this level is to use an item within 7 seconds of picking it up.  This means you can't store anything on your tray for later use.

Oliver's location:

Level 55

The challenge for this level is to check on the toxins.  There is a meter under the machine, which is slowly running out.  Be sure to check on it before it runs out.  You'll have to keep doing this throughout the level.
Tip: It runs down much faster than the same game in previous levels.  Try to queue up a trip to the machine after every action.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 28

In this level, Allison walks faster.  The challenge of the level is that the surgeons arrive more quickly, too.

Level 56

The challenge for this level is to "use a different item every time".  In other words, don't deliver the same item twice in a row. You'll have to memorize what you use, so as not to make a mistake.  You may have to make surgeons wait if they want the same item as the previous surgeon.

Oliver's location:

Level 57

The challenge for this level is to score at least two treatment chains of three or more treatments. You may have to make a surgeon wait for his item so that you can deliver three items or do three actions in a row.

Oliver's location:

Challenge 29

In this level, mini games are harder and treatments take longer.

Level 58

The challenge for this level is to question Ruth.  An exclamation point will appear above her head.  Click on her for Allison to talk to her.

Oliver's location:

Level 59

The surgeons don't care for Mason, so they start off without any quick bonuses. Gold hearts do not appear, either.

Oliver's location:

After the level, there will be some mini games to be played in the cut scenes.  They are not timed and you will be walked through them.

Challenge 30

The challenge for this level is to help Emily in the canteen, just as in Challenge 1.

Level 60

The challenge for this level is to never help the same surgeon twice in a row.

  2. Thanks for the tips! I hope they continue to add on, I love this game! I also enjoy playing with my eight year old nephew, he can finish the level without getting three stars and finding Oliver, but I can go back and do so on my own! Is there a way to reset the money, I should have upgraded different options first, but don't know if I can fix this problem...

    1. It is such a fun game, isn't it?! I'm really hoping for another one next year. (I cried just a little when you-know-what happened. . . )

You should have enough money to buy every thing if you earn three stars on each level. I know I won the trophy for buying all the upgrades. Hopefully, that will work for you!
