Cathy's Crafts is a time management game where you play as Cathy selling crafts and craft items. It is made by the same developers as the Delicious and Heart's Medicine series. If you've play any of those games, you will know how to play this one. If not, there is a good walkthrough available at the beginning of the first level.
The point of the game is to serve your customers and check them out with the highest amount of hearts. To keep them happy, you must serve them quickly.
You can earn bonuses by making chains of actions. If you serve 2 in a row you get a +15 bonus; 3 in a row gives a +30 bonus. If you check out two in a row, you get a cash combo of +10; three in a row gives a cash combo of +20. You earn +15 for serving quickly and +10 for serving a complete order.
Sometimes the customers will get confused and loose a heart; they will ask for Cathy's help. Cathy visiting will gain the heart back.
At the beginning of each level, you are shown which customers will be in that day. Choose your products based on what percentage of each customer is expected.
Some levels have challenges or bonus tasks. Completing these will earn a bonus, but you can still pass the level if you don't complete it.
The levels "Hardware Store", "Cathy's Return" and "Outdoor Fundraiser" feature Ming the cat.
You will notice the bar above Ming's head. When it gets low, you will need to feed him by clicking on the food bowl.
Influence: Notice which customers don't care for cats. When he visits their table, those customers will loose a heart. To prevent him from visiting, feed him before he gets to that table. If he is bothering a customer, quickly feed him for him to leave.
The mouse will appear in each level. He will squeak when he pops up. He will stay up for a short period of time. Click on him to earn a bonus of +100. I have included a screen shot of his location for each level.
Decorations:
Each location has a decoration store. You earn money by completing the levels. If you hover over the item, it will tell you what bonus it offers.
Trophies are earned for completing various tasks and are shown as items in Cathy's room. Most of these trophies will be earned simply by playing through the game.
To earn "Neat Freak", you must clean all the tables before checking out your last customer. To do this, don't serve your last counter customer until all your table customers have paid and left.
To earn "Ka-ching", you will have to replay some of the game. When replaying the levels to earn this award, don't make check-out combos when possible, so as to get as many uses of the register as possible.
To earn "Busy Bee", you will have to stay moving for one minute. I did this on level 3, by clicking table, register, table, register, on and on for a full minute. (I used the stopwatch on my phone to time it.)
The trick to earning "Take Three!" is to serve partial orders to three customers. Then go back and complete the orders for those same three customers, with all the products on the same tray.
You won't get notification of earning the trophy until the end of the level when you return to the map.
Level 1-1
To make the picture frames, first click on the frame, then the glue, then the flowers.
To restock the picture frames, click on the box to the left.
Cathy will need to clean the tables. When a customer leaves, the table will be dirty. It will need to be cleaned before the next set of customers can order anything. Click on the table and Cathy will go to clean it.

The challenge for this level is to catch the cat. When Ming stops walking, click on him.
Kendra will now clean tables.

On this level, you'll need to accept the cat food from the mailman. If you make him wait too long, he will leave.
Tip: There is a glitch on this level with the score being well higher than the levels before and after. I don't know if this will be fixed or not. To earn three stars, I had to change the difficulty to beginner.

The extra task for this level is to help Jenny make her frame. Click on her for Cathy to work with her. Click on any item or the register to interrupt. Keep sending Cathy back until the frame is complete.

Customers will hand Cathy their memory cards or film for her to print the photos. Take the card/film, and click on the printer. It will take a few seconds before it is printed.

The special task for this level is to search through the file cabinets. Click on the exclamation point for Cathy to begin searching. Click on any item or the register to interrupt her. Keep sending her back between customers until the task is finished.
To wrap boxes, click first on the box, then the paper and then the bow.

It is just Kendra in this level, so she'll have to clean tables as well.

To prepare the cloth, click on the right color and then click three times to make a set of three.
To make the clay objects, first click on the correct mold, then on the right color. It will go into the oven and the meter will begin. You'll need to click on the oven when the meter is in the green, or the clay will burn and you'll have to start over.

The extra task for this level is to make a signboard. Click on it for Cathy to work on it. You can interrupt her by clicking on any item or the register.
To use the pattern, first click on the pattern, then the yarn. To restock the yarn, click on the box on the lower left of the screen.

To dress the cat dolls, first click on the doll, then the clothing.

To make the applique, first click the pattern, then the sewing machine. It takes a few seconds for Cathy to finish.

Combine the tape dispenser/glue gun with the tape/glue stick to make the finished product.

The special task for this level is to take photos of Ming. When a customer comes and stands beside Ming, click on them to take a photo.

To make the bouquet, first click the wrap and then the flowers. The flowers will need to be restocked. Click on the growing flower in the upper middle of the screen.

The special task for this level is to make the arrangements. Click on the shelves for Cathy to begin to work. You can interrupt her by clicking on any item or the register. Keep sending her back between customers.

The special task for this level is to check the flower inventory. Be sure Cathy finishes at all three locations before the end of the level.

Cathy works on throwing pots during this level, and Chloe must serve and clean the tables, as well as assist Cathy. Click on Cathy for Chloe to go help; interrupt her at anytime by clicking on an item or the register. Be sure to finish the pots before the end of the level.

To make the pot, click on it for Cathy to pick it up. Then click on the kiln. It will fire; the meter will run all the way out for it to finish.
Tip: The pot will NOT burn if you leave it in the kiln. Make a pot in advance, and when you take it out of the kiln, but another in right away. That way you will never have to wait for a pot to fire.

The special task for this level is to talk with Chloe when the exclamation point appears over her head. There is no noise announcing her arrival, so you'll have to keep an eye open for her. She will be gone throughout the level, except for when she comes to talk to Cathy, so Cathy will have to clean the tables as well.

Because Chloe is making the centerpiece, Cathy must clean tables again today.
Be sure to help Chloe and finish the centerpiece before the end of the level.

The special task for this level is to talk to Ivy. She will come in and out of the store, but there will be no noise when she appears. You'll just have to keep your eye open for her.
The figurines will have to be painted in order to be sold. In this level, only red and blue are used. Click on the correct paints in order from left to right. Refill the figurines from the basket to the right of the paint.

There is a special task for this level. To make the stencils, click on the small table and Cathy will work on it. Just be sure to finish before the end of the level.

The art paper is sold in sets of two sheets; to prepare it, click on the paper twice.

Today's special task is to receive the packages. There won't be any sound when the mailman appears, so you'll have to keep watching for him.

Ming the cat is in this location. Check your customers to see who likes and dislikes Ming.
Frames are made by combining the house with the ring. Click on the parts from left to right. Restock the frames from the box to the left of them.
Quilts are restocked from the box to the left.

The extra task for this level is to unpack the boxes. Click on the stack for Cathy to begin. Note that there are two stacks in two different locations. Continue to send her back in between customers.
To prepare the pillow, combine it with the right accessory, clicking from left to right.

To make the candle, first click the jar and then the pot. It will pour and will stop when it is finished. Restock the jars from the box on the lower left.
Tip: Since the candle will no overflow, you can always have one prepared and waiting.

ReplyDeleteThey are working on a new build of the game right now; it should come out Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully, when you redownload it, these impossible-to-pass levels will have been fixed. I can't play the game right now (the second build, that I stupidly downloaded, messed up the whole game for me), but as soon as the new build comes out I'll be back to playing.

ReplyDeleteThe first two versions of this game had problems, and no one could get past about this level. Have you downloaded the game recently? If it has been more than a week since you downloaded it, delete it and redownload it. That will most likely fix your problem. Once I got this newest version, I didn't have any trouble passing the levels.
DeleteOne thing you can always do, though, is to change the difficulty down to "beginner". (It is found in the settings.) That should help. Otherwise, there is really no particular way to pass the level other than try to keep your customers as happy as possible.

Can't get past 5-1 what am I doing wrong. Went back to beginner and still can't get even one star

Thank you deleting and reinstalling I did lose some of my progress. However I think was due to a glitch or needing the update. I have far more customers and as you said didn't have any trouble getting past the level on 5-1 and was back on normal. Thank you again for the help! You rock!!

ReplyDeleteIf you bought the game some time back, you might try deleting it and redownloading it, as the first and second builds of this game had a lot of problems with it. The third build worked fine, though.
Otherwise, there's nothing I know to do if a game is restarting on you! I do hate that for you!
What is a good level to try for the take three trophy?
ReplyDeleteI did it on the first level. Wait until you have three customers at the counter, then deliver all but one product to each. Then, fill the tray with the three items needed, and deliver it. Be sure you do not start with the last customer you served, because the game thinks it is just a continuation of that order. It's hard to explain, but it just won't work if you start with the same customer you just served. Hopefully this helps some!

DeleteI've had trouble with that too. I don't know if there is a glitch, but I don't seem to always gain more money after earning three stars. I've not earned three stars on every level yet (I didn't start over after I downloaded the third build). Have you earned three on every level and still don't have enough? If that is so, then there is still a glitch in this game. It wasn't quite ready when they released it, and they had to rerelease it three times that I know of, so far. I was ready to move on once I finished it, but I'll go back and try the levels I didn't earn three stars on and see if it makes any difference.

This will keep her moving continually and hopefully if you keep queuing that action she will stay busy enough for the trophy.

DeleteI know I'm a little late to the party but I have a solution to the glitch other people were talking about on here. At first, I had the same issue other people mentioned about not being able to complete levels which I thought was odd as I have played this game before. I went to the settings and changed the difficulty level to beginner and that seemed to fix it. As I had played it before, I was worried it would be too easy but it's not. It's perfect.
