"Gardens, Inc. 2: The Road to Fame" Walkthrough and Tips

Gardens Inc. 2: The Road to Fame is a time/resource management game in which you collect and use resources to build beautiful gardens.

This game includes a guide which can be found by clicking the "extras" button.  


The first levels also contain an excellent tutorialAlso, any time a new feature is introduced, the game will walk you through it, as well. The tutorial part of the level can be skipped if you wish.  However, if you are not familiar with the Gardens Inc, games, I recommend you play the tutorial or read the guide.  


The Platinum Edition includes a walkthrough of each level if you get stuck.  It does not, however, explain the bonus goals.  A solution to each one is provided in this post.



Note: To complete the level,you must click on the truck.  When you have completed all your goals, a check mark will appear over the truck to alert you.  Make sure you have gathered all coins and resources that you want (to increase your score) before you click on the truck.  Once you click on the truck, any incomplete actions will be ignored and the level will end.


Tip: You can queue as many actions as you have resources available to complete.  When you have more than one worker, the next available worker will begin the next task in the queue.


Tip: You can right click to cancel the next action.  You can continue to right click until all your queued actions have been cancelled. 


Tip: The level timer does not begin until you make your first click.  Take a moment to read the goals and plan out your first moves.


Tip: You may not have to repair all the paths to complete the level.  Pay attention to your goals so that you won't waste time and resources needlessly repairing paths or bridges.


Tip: Do not upgrade your truck until you have enough tasks available to need more than one person.  Otherwise, you will have one person not doing anything and may have wasted resources that you will need for another task.


(This walkthrough includes the Platinum Edition bonus levels.)


Scoring:
Each level completed earns a score.  You receive a bonus to your store for unused resources, for completing the bonus goal, and also for time left on the timer. Your score earns you money that can be used for buying renovations to the company. 

You can replay a level to improve your time to gold time; if you improve your score to gold time, you will get that bonus money.




Bonus Goals:
Beginning with the second chapter, there is a bonus goal.  The goal is given in the form of a clue that must be solved.  The bonus goal clues and solutions will be listed below for each chapter.





Company:

The money you earn from your scores is used to purchase renovations for your company.  You will find access to the company on the map screen.  Click on the "store" button to purchase renovations.  You will need to replay some levels and increase your score to earn enough money for all the renovations. 

Trophies:
Hover over the trophy to see a descriptions; they are all self-explanatory.  You will earn most of the trophies simply by completing the game.

One exception is "Easy Come, Easy Go" (have at least 15 resources and loose them all).  I could not figure out how to gain this trophy.  If you have, I'd love to know how!




Tips and Bonus Goal Answers 

Chapter 1
There is no bonus goal for this level.




Chapter 2
Clue: New flowers should not fit the closest one.
Solution: Make sure the flowers you plant do not match the flowers already there.





Chapter 3
Clue:  A paired flower is a happy flower.
Solution: Plant your flowers in pairs of the same color.





Chapter 4
Clue:   Alternate the colors.
Solution:  Alternate red and yellow around the circle.

Tip: Build the bridge on the left first or you may run out of stone and not be able to build it at all.






Chapter 5
Clue:  One group, same flowers.
Solution: Make the flowers in each group match each other.





Chapter 6
Clue: What's on the left is on the right.
Solution: Make the two gardens mirror images of each other.





Chapter 7
Clue: Groups should differ from single flowers.
Solution: Make all the flowers in a group match each other, but make the single flowers different from those in groups.





Chapter 8
Clue: Every group has every color.
Solution: Self-explanatory.





Chapter 9
Clue:  Different number, different flower.
Solution:  There are flower boxes in groups of one or three boxes (the groups of two boxes are for trees, with no choice of color).  Make the set of three boxes be in one color, and the single boxes be in the other color.





Chapter 10
Clue:  Make the middles stand out.
Solution:  For the groups of three square boxes, make the one in the middle a different color from the two on the side.  For the group of round boxes, make the one in the middle different from the ones forming a circle around it.





Chapter 11
No bonus goal.

Tip: Don't waste your time working your way to the chest.  Focus on the coins arriving on the raft on the two paths on the upper right.


Chapter 12
Clue:  Winners create six different pairs.
Solution:  Self-explanatory.





Chapter 13
Clue:  Everything!
Solution: Use all the colors available.





Chapter 14
Clue:  Single, double, triple!
Solution: Make one box the first color, two boxes the second color and three boxes the last color.





Chapter 15
Clue: Cross, cross, cross. . .
Solution: Arrange your colors so as to have two diagonal lines in each set of four.

Tip: You can upgrade your tool shack once before you build the tools-for-stone exchange shack, but if you upgrade it twice you'll not have enough wood to build the exchange shack.


Tip: After you build the tools-for-stone shack, build the bridge to the left and build the wood/tool shack.






Chapter 16
Clue:  Today's magic word is symmetries!
Solution: Make the four sections of the garden identical to each other.





Chapter 17
There is no bonus goal for this level.

Tip: If you run into the red area around the guards Jill will go back to the starting point.


Tip: Take a moment to watch the route the guard takes before you try to pass him.  The guard will always follow the same route.


Chapter 18
Clue:  Equality is perfection.
Solution:  Have an equal number of each color: two red and two pink.





Chapter 19
Clue:  Left is not right.
Solution:  Make sure that the left and right sides are completely different.





Chapter 20
Clue:  You can find everything in this maze.
Solution:  Use all three colors in both varieties.





Chapter 21
Clue:  A group is defined by two stripes.
Solution:  A "group" is the set of six plants.  Make one set of three one color and the other set another color, making it look like two stripes.

Tip: The chest to the right contains "time halt" which will be valuable for completing this level in gold time.






Chapter 22
No bonus goal for this level.

Chapter 23
Clue:  The Middle-Road Mirror!
Solution: The path divides the circular group into two sides.  Make sure the sides mirror each other.

Tip: The vandals can knock down your tool shack, but it will only go down on level of upgrade, and won't disappear completely.






Chapter 24
Clue:  Not siblings.
Solution: No matching plants side by side.





Chapter 25
Clue: Zebras would like this garden,
Solution:  Arrange the colors in stripes.





Chapter 26
There is no bonus goal for this level.


Chapter 27
Clue: Which one?  EVERYONE!
Solution: Use all colors of all varieties. 





Chapter 28
No bonus goal.

Switch A opens 1, 2 and 4.

Switch B opens 1, 2, and 3.
Switch C opens 2, 3, and 4.
Switch D opens 1, 3 and 4.
Use the switches in this order: D, A, B and C.





Chapter 29
Clue:  Different elevations are different.
Solution:  There is an upper level and a lower level.  Make the plants on the upper one color, and make the lower level plants a different color.





Chapter 30
Clue:  Second one for each first one.
Solution:  Plant them in pairs of the same color.





Chapter 31
Clue:  Come to me!  Symmetries of three!
Solution:  For each set of three, have the outside plants one color and the middle a different color.





Chapter 32
Clue:  Have you seen my clone?
Solution:  There is an upper garden and a lower garden.  Make the two gardens match each other.





Chapter 33
There is no bonus goal for this level.



Chapter 34
Clue:  Let's make teams!
Solution:  The railroad track divides the planters into two sections, or "teams".  Make the set of six planters one color and the set of two planters another color.





Chapter 35
There is no bonus goal for this level.

Tip: Don't upgrade your rock shack until you've built the exchange-for-wood shack or you'll run out of wood before you can build it.


Chapter 36
Clue:  Up is down, left is right.
Solution:  The upper and lower rows should match, and both the left and right sections should match each other as well.





Chapter 37
Clue:  Confusing, if path were the same.
Solution:  The garden on the left should be completely different from the garden on the right.

Tip: Don't upgrade your shacks until you have built the wood shack, or you will run out of wood.






Chapter 38
Clue:  Only two in each three.
Solution:  Use two colors in each set of three.

Tip: Do not make TNT until you have made the exchange-for-seeds shack or you won't have enough seeds to make the path to that shack.






Chapter 39
No bonus goal for this level.

Tip: You can turn off the alarms in any order.


Chapter 40
Clue:  One for even!  One for uneven!
Solution: Use one color for the plants in uneven numbered sets and another color for plants in even numbered sets.





Chapter 41
Clue:  It's the color of love!
Solution: Red plants only.





Chapter 42
Clue:  Half symmetrical.  Half not.
Solution:  There are two sets of plants, upper and lower.  Have two of the plants the same color in both the upper and lower sets.  Have the other two be different colors.





Chapter 43
Clue:  As little variety as you can, please.
Solution: Make the plants in each group all the same color.  





Chapter 44
There is no bonus goal for this level.



Chapter 45
Clue:  The pyramid makes things unique.
Solution:  The three plants closest to the pyramid need to be different from the others.





Chapter 46
Clue:  I don't even!
Solution:  Plant colors in uneven amounts.  The set of two round pots should be in two different colors.  The set of three planters should be all one color or three different colors.  The set of four planters should have three in one color and the fourth in a different color.





Chapter 47
Clue:  Warm one pool, cool the other!
Solution:  Use warm colors (red/orange) next to one pool and cool colors (blues) next to the other.

Tip: You will need to build the exchange-for-time shack quickly and make a lot of exchanges to have enough time.






Chapter 48
Clue:  Balanced colors, diverse pairs.
Solution:  This is difficult to explain, but I'll try.  Use four colors, with two planters for each color.  Make your four pairs different from each other.  (It's easiest just to see the screenshot below.)





Chapter 49
Clue: World Hotel theme!
Solution:  Red and yellow.


Tip: Work your way to the security shack first, then to the demolition shack, then blow up the rocks in front of the watches to give you enough time.





Chapter 50
No bonus goal.

You begin with gates A, D, 3 and 4 open.

Using switch A opens B and closes D.
Switch B opens 1 and closes 3.
Switch D closes A and opens C.
Switch C opens 1 and 2.

Use switches in this order: A, B, A, D, C.  After you repair the road, go back to the switches and use them in this order: C, D, A, B.
